Things To Do In London: The V&A

At the moment I'm having a little blogging-block so instead of the two posts I have been trying to write for over a week and a half I am going to start this little London Series. As you probably guessed by now, I am a little bit obsessed with London. My tummy is filled with butterflies when I step out of the Tube and onto London soil. London has this timeless elegance and style, a sense in the air of endless possibilities and some of the best food around. With Niall at Oxford I am getting to spend a great deal of time in both London and Oxford, which is really exciting! In this London series I am going to show you some of my favourite spots to visit around town!

The Victoria & Albert Museum
Cromwell Road, London

The Victoria & Albert Museum is a place that will blow you away. The interior of the museum alone is worth a visit. The range of pieces on show here is extensive and you could spend an entire day wandering around in awe at the beautiful collections. Make sure you take a visit to the tea rooms the Morris, Poynter & Gamble rooms, which are remarkable, like stepping into a bygone era. Whilst inside make sure to look up, from oddly shaped chandeliers to huge glowing orbs, it's all about the lighting. If you are anyway interested in fashion, the museum's collection of costume, designer outfits and couture are a must-see. The tiny Chanel sequined pant suit, the outfits Mick Jagger wore on stage, and beautifully crafted Dior couture are all on the list. Make sure you swing by the photography collection and check out Robert Doisneau, the celebrated photographers' Le Petit Balcon' and 'Bistrot Noir et Blanc'. The Cast Collection is one of the more unusual parts of the museum in my opinion. The objects in these rooms are plaster copies of original works such as Trajan's Column and High Crosses from Ireland. The models were a Victorian phenomenon and are still used today for architecture and art students to draw.

The V&A is one of my favourite places in London to visit, and is also free to see, except for some admission fees on temporary exhibitions.
Opening Times: 10am-17.45 daily, except Friday late openings 10am-22.00
Located just down the road from the Natural History Museum!
