Pop-Up Pantry.....hard to resist!

 Almond Slices

 White Scones

                                               Caramel Cream Slices

Today my mom held a Pop-Up Pantry! Above are the results. It has been an extremely difficult 24 hours at my house as I am currently on Lent and can't eat anything above! The Caramel and Cream slices looked so good and it was hard not to break Lent! Next week is Easter, so I can FINALLY indulge and eat some of her amazing cakes! All her stuff is completely homemade and she uses the best ingredients!

Sing Along with the Common People

Today I was thinking about all the songs I used to be obsessed with growing up and the songs that are linked to life events from the past. I started listening to some throughout the evening and thought I would share them on here:
  1. Basket Case - Green Day - I distinctly remember the first time I heard this song, in a dreary bedroom in Achaill when I was twelve. My life long friend Eavan introduced most of the house in the Gaeltacht to Green Day and we used to sit on her bed and listen to Basket Case on repeat. By the end of the two weeks everyone seemed to know the words of this song!
  2. By The Way - RHCP - Another Gaeltacht song shared with Eavan and our friend Daniel, we moshed to this at the discos...so cool
  3. Teenage Dirtbag- Wheatus - This song reminds me of my Auntie Noelle, who always sings it and did her own rendition at my birthday party....
  4. The Whistle Song - DJ Aligator Project - official theme tune to my fourth year school trip to Rome, our teacher Éanna had a whistle and by the end of the trip we convinced him to dance to this with the whistle
  5. Mr Brightside - The Killers - this song is the dancefloor anthem of my generation
  6. Dancing in the Dark - Bruce Springsteen
  7. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
  8. The Bad Touch - Bloodhound Gang - a party classic for my friends and I
  9. Gangster's Paradise - Coolio
  10. What's Up - 4 Non Blondes - Skiing song :)
  11. Radetzky March - Strauss - My grandparents are responsible for my great love of classical music and this was one of the first pieces they gave me. Myself and my cousins used to pretend to conduct this in the back of their car with it blaring.
  12. Strawberry Fields Forever - The Beatles - a friend of mine Sophie used to sing this with me
  13. Wave of Mutilation - Pixies
  14. Danny Boy - the first song I learned in singing lessons
  15. Teenage Kicks - The Undertones - my singing debut was a hilarious rendition of this with our 'band' at a charity concert we organised in school...
  16. Oró Sé do Bheatha 'Bhaile - The Dubliners - another Gaeltacht gem
  17. Cosmic Dancer - T-Rex
  18. That's Entertainment - The Jam -
  19. Runaway - Del Shannon - discovered this song when I was about 11 and listened to it constantly about three times a day for years.
  20. Common People - Pulp - Pulp were on every one of my teenage play lists
There are literally hundreds of songs I could mention here but these are just a few that really shaped my early years.

23 before 24!

So a while back I made a mini bucket list for my 23rd year on earth. I wanted to make a list that was reasonable enough to achieve but also something to inspire me to do more things this year. I haven't done much on the list but I am hoping the long Summer months coming up will allow me to achieve all of this! I have until the end of September to tick off all the list, so it should be ok! I generally make lists in order to keep my life organised and stress free, and I have an extremely long Bucket list that I will put up on the blog in the coming weeks.

  1. Read 10 books
  2. Start a new blog (yay!)
  3. Visit 3 places in Ireland
  4. Visit Geneva
  5. Visit the Warner Brother's Harry Potter Tour
  6. Take more photo's
  7. Get a new hairstyle (May 2013)
  8. Write more
  9. Go on a roadtrip
  10. Attend three concerts - 'Holiday Hooley', Daughter, Trinity Ball 2013
  11. Visit Cambridge
  12. Finally get a La Sardina Camera
  13. Move out
  14. Learn to cook/bake
  15. Visit 3 new countries
  16. Get Fit
  17. Get into a Master's programme St Andrews M.Litt Modern History
  18. Get an internship/volunteer - April 2013 National Gallery of Ireland Volunteer
  19. Finish my Undergraduate degree
  20. Finish my dissertation - March 2013
  21. Get a tattoo
  22. Make a new friend
  23. See my friends more often!
So far I have started a new blog, which has been a long term goal, I visited Cambridge (Oxford and London) in February, I have made a new friend, I taught myself how to cook and bake while my parents were away in February, I got a La Sardina from my boyfriend, and I went on the Harry Potter tour on my recent trip to London. I have two out of three concerts attended - Mo Hata Mo Gheansaí, Gabrielle Aplin, Hannah Grace, Hudson Taylor, Orla Gartland and Jack Morris after Christmas and then a friend gave me a pair of tickets to see Daughter and Farewll J.R in January (amazing!!). I will find out in the coming months if I get a master's course, I hand in my dissertation March 22nd (CANNOT WAIT) and I will finish my degree by the end of May....(daunting).
